PM WANIWIFI INTERNET ACCESS
PM WANIWIFI INTERNET ACCESS
Not many people are aware of what the PM WANI Wi-Fi
scheme is about. Well, this is an initiative from the central government to
provide internet connectivity through the PDOs (Public Data Offices). Well, the
scheme is aimed to not only boost the easy means of doing business but will
even make the living easier for people.
From this free Wi-Fi scheme, small shopkeepers can
provide Wi-Fi services. That would boost their income and make sure that youth
get seamless internet connectivity.
THE WORKING OF PM WANI WI-FI SCHEME
In this, the public network would be set up through
the public data office aggregators (PDOAs) that provide Wi-Fi service using the
public data offices (PDOs) spread all over the country.
That would assist in accelerating the proliferation of
broadband internet services using the public Wi-Fi network. Also, the
government of India plans to create an app that would register the users and
find out the WANI-compliant Wi-Fi hotspots in the nearby area and even display
them for accessing the internet service.
Well, the best part is that no license fees would be
charged to providing broadband internet service. That means using public Wi-Fihotspots would easily encourage penetration throughout the country. For
example, a customer that is waiting to gain access to the network from the
PDO’s premise can easily do that as soon as the eKYC authentication is
received.
MAJOR OBJECTIVES OF THE PM WANI SCHEME
Frankly, it is assumed that the proliferation of the
public Wi-Fi system all over the country would help to increase internet access
at cheap rates. The increased access to Wi-Fi means that it would improve the
quality of life, and that too in terms of the increasingly digital economy.
Also, it would make the ease of doing business and
even lead to better employment opportunities as well as increase the disposable
income. Besides these, the decentralized nature of the WANI ecosystem helps to
handle the last mile connectivity and even allows the access points to grow in
an organic way in places that require them the most.
PUBLIC OPINION OF THE SCHEME
Well, the scheme has been applauded by many people and
they feel that it would easily increase the internet connectivity throughout
the country. But a thorough checkpoint in terms of security needs to be done
for safer internet access.
